About me

Hi I’m Debbie and I’m a fully qualified and professionally registered clinical hypnotherapist in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy.

I’ve always worked in professions which help others, and I previously worked within the NHS as an Occupational Therapist, and also spent many years working in community pharmacy.

I took a career break when my two children were born, and while I enjoyed being a stay-at-home mum, my life took an unexpected pathway: separation, bereavement, legal and financial complications, health worries, aging family members, and then a global pandemic. It was certainly a difficult period in my life, as I tried to navigate anxiety, stress and overwhelm.

As things settled down and my children a little older, I was eager to get back to work, and I knew I wanted to retrain in something that would allow me to draw upon my previous work and personal experiences to best help others.

As an Occupational Therapist I’d really enjoyed learning about Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) in a community mental health placement, and after a little research I then discovered Solution Focused Hypnotherapy.

Training to become a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist was one of the most rewarding, meaningful, and I’d go so far as to say life changing achievements for me: understanding how our brains work so we can positively influence our thoughts, feelings and behaviours, has changed the way I live my life. I’m happier, calmer and I’m able to cope far better in all of life’s daily trials and tribulations.

One of the things I love about the Solution focused approach is that we don’t need to trawl through the past to bring about positive changes in the future.

A little more about me:

  • I’m a busy Mum (or “Mam” here in the North East!) to teen and tween girls, and a lively cavapoo dog
  • I have a passion for painting and upcycling old furniture – it’s very therapeutic!
  • I’ve sat on focus groups for national charities “Marie Curie” and “Winstons Wish”, supporting them in research to promote better access to bereavement support. I’ve also written several articles for the national children’s bereavement charity “Winstons Wish”.
  • I’ve developed a new habit of quick HIIT workouts with our national treasure Joe Wicks! It helps me relax and refocus.
  • Solution Focused Hypnotherapy also freed me from the spider and flying phobias I’d had throughout my adult life!

I genuinely feel I have the best job in the world, and it’s an absolute pleasure to help people realise their full potential and achieve their own unique goals and ambitions, changing their lives for the better, and I can help you too!
