Solution Focused Hypnotherapy

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a modern type of talking therapy combining psychotherapy and hypnosis (trance), which draws upon key areas of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).

As a therapy it brings about positive change in a relatively short space of time by focusing on the SOLUTION – not the presenting problem, so there is no need to analyse or dwell on the past.

Hypnosis (Trance) is a very natural state of focused concentration which is wonderfully relaxing, a little like a daydream: its enjoyable and you’re awake, aware and fully in control.

We all drift in and out of trance naturally throughout our day when we’re concentrating on something, for example if we’re reading, watching TV, at the gym or driving a regular route – we do it all of the time.

And it’s when we’re in this very relaxed state that our conscious mind and subconscious mind come together in focus, and our brain is actually working really hard to figure out our future actions and choices about things which helps us to come up with solutions to our problems.

Initial Consultation

The process begins with an Initial Consultation (which is free) lasting around 45 minutes, and it’s an opportunity for us to meet each other and for me to collect some important information from you, to help me understand your current situation, and what you would like to achieve moving forwards: your best hopes.

I’ll explain how your brain and mind work in relation to how you’ve been feeling and how the conscious and subconscious mind impacts upon how we feel, think and behave. I’ll then propose a therapy plan which reflects your particular needs and how many sessions is likely to be needed.

Hypnotherapy Sessions

Each therapy session lasts around an hour, and during psychotherapy in the first half we’ll chat about the positive progress you’ve made in the previous week. I’ll then help you to imagine and find solutions which will enable you to take manageable, regular, constructive steps towards achieving the changes you’d like to make in your life: your preferred future.

This is followed by relaxing hypnosis (trance) which makes up the second half of the session, and this process embeds and cements all of the new thoughts and changes which you imagined and talked about during psychotherapy.

You’ll rest back and listen to me guiding you into a state of tranquil relaxation, accompanied by gentle, soothing music in the background. You’ll feel very relaxed, you’ll be awake, aware and in control throughout.

At the end of each session, you’ll feel motivated, uplifted, relaxed, and have a fresh positive outlook for the week ahead.
